Ayşegül İşsever has been appointed General Artistic Director of İBB City Theaters. İşsever, who has acted in many plays as an actress for years, held various artistic positions in the institution and recently held the position of director, became the third woman to be appointed to this position at the IMM City Theatres.
Ayşegül İşsever has been appointed General Artistic Director of Municipal Theaters of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), which has brought the city closer to art since its establishment in 1914. İşsever has become the third female artist to be appointed to this position , after Gencay. Gürün and Ayşenil Şamlıoğlu.
Who is Ayşegül İşsever?
Ayşegül İşsever was born on September 20, 1962 in Ankara. She completed her primary and secondary education at Yıldız College in Istanbul and her secondary education at Nişantaşı Girls’ High School. İşsever entered Istanbul University State Conservatory Theater Department in 1984 and participated in various private theaters (Hadi Çaman Yeditepe Players, Dormen Theatre, Ali Atik-Ayşegül Atik Children’s Theater, etc.) during this period.
After graduating from the conservatory, İşsever entered Istanbul City Theater as a permanent artist and served as a member of the institution’s disciplinary committee in addition to acting. She was a board member of İŞTİSAN (Istanbul City Theater Artists Association) between 2010 and 2016. She worked as a lecturer at Haliç University between 2014 and 2017.
Ayşegül İşsever, who has been actively performing in Istanbul City Theater for 33 years, took on the role of director in 2019 in addition to her acting role. Recently, she was appointed General Artistic Director of IMM City Theatres.
