The Muleshoe Art Association gathered May 3 at the Santa Fe Depot for their May meeting. Members enjoyed pizza, salad brought by Kay Hohs and banana pudding brought by Ann Johnson.
After the meal, the door prize brought by Shirley White was drawn and won by Ruth Hall.
President Johnson then opened the meeting by asking Secretary Alice Liles to call and read the minutes from the March meeting. Treasurer Misti Prater presented the Treasurer’s report. Mike Jones moved to accept the minutes and Treasurer’s report, seconded by Sandi Chitwood, and the motion carried.
Under New and Old Business, a discussion ensued about the success of the Spring Art Show. Sandra Chancey was acknowledged and thanked for her tough word that helped bring the show together, and she thanked the members for helping to keep things running smoothly. The senior center board was also thanked for allowing the show to take place at the senior center this year. A discussion also ensued regarding the association’s continued support of the Heritage Foundation in its projects.
It was reported that Muleshoe members Misti Prater and Sandi Chitwood participated in the Brownfield Art Show, with Misti winning the Best of Show award and Sandi receiving three honorable mentions.
A motion to accept the old and new business was moved by Dianne Brown, seconded by Kay Hohs, and the motion passed.
Sandi Chitwood reminded members who would be exhibiting their artwork at the senior center and library over the next few months.
Melba Bratcher discussed refreshments to be provided at the first fall meeting to be held at Alice Liles’ home.
President Johnson commended Kay and Shirley for the business planning schedules for the meetings.
The election of officers followed and Nelda Hunt decided to retain the existing officers by acclimatization. Sandra Chancey seconded and the motion carried. The Chair will be Ann Johnson, Vice Chair Kay Hohs, Secretary Alice Liles, Treasurer Misti Prater.
Dianne Brown moved the motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Melba Bratcher, and the motion was carried.
The next meeting will be the New Year’s Opening Meeting on September 6 at 2 p.m. at Alice Liles’ home. Visitors and potential members are welcome to attend.
