City of Pasadena Celebrates Latin Heritage Month

PASADENA, Calif.—Join the City of Pasadena and the Latino Heritage Committee for Pasadena’s 24th Annual Latino Heritage Celebration, including the highly anticipated parade and festival on Saturday, October 1. Month-long family activities and celebrations are held Sept. 16-Oct. 28.

Patrias Festivities
Friday, September 16, 5-9 p.m.
Villa Parke, 363 E.Villa St.

The big party is back! Join the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services in commemorating the independence of 18 Latin American countries. This lively family celebration includes the parade of flags, activities for children and the coronation of the Queen and court by city officials. Food will be available for purchase.

Latin Heritage Parade and Festival
Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Join local schools, community groups, elected officials, dignitaries, neighbors and friends at the 24th Annual Latino Heritage Parade and Festival. The parade begins at 10 a.m. on Los Robles Avenue and Prescott Street, heads south on Los Robles Avenue and ends at the Villa Parke Community Center, 363 E. Villa St. Immediately following the parade, enjoy a festival featuring shows, educational booths, free activities for children and food available for purchase.

Making chocolate skulls
Saturday, Oct. 8, 2 p.m.-5 p.m.
Villa Parke, 363 E.Villa St.

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) sugar skull craft. Participants will follow step-by-step instructions to create a fun and unique chocolate calavera. Equipment will be provided and registration is required. Register now.

Painting and Aguas Frescas
Saturday, Oct. 8, 2 p.m.-5 p.m.
Villa Parke, 363 E.Villa St.

Join us for Paint and Aguas Frescas! Participants aged 16 and over will create their own painting, under the guidance of an experienced artist, while enjoying a tasty cantarito d’agua fresca! Art kits and aguas will be provided. Register now.

Movie in the Park, “Vivo”

Bring your blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy the movie “Vivo”. Registration is encouraged.

Dia de los Muertos
Friday, October 28, 5-9 p.m.
Villa Parke, 363 E.Villa St.

Join your friends and neighbors at the Villa Parke Community Center to celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services partners with the Armory Center for the Arts and the Pasadena Community Job Center to commemorate the centennial celebration with dance performances; Arts and Crafts; food available for purchase; and the “ofrendas”, altars honoring the life of the deceased.
