College approves director of construction of new science and technology center

At the regular monthly Council meeting on Thursday, Construction of the river town at East Peoria was approved for a one-year term as the college’s construction director, with the option of four one-year extensions.

The company has already partnered with several other higher education institutions for the construction of new science buildings, including Illinois College, University of Southern Illinois and the University of Missouri.

River City Construction “will lead the erection of upcoming capital projects at the college, highlighted by a new science and technology center which would function as the centerpiece of the campus, ”a press release said, adding that“ the two-story building would offer a view of Storey Lake on the main campus, in addition to serving as a new state-of-the-art building. classroom space and providing a central location for Sandburg’s student services offices.

The Board also approved the following at Thursday’s meeting:

  • Veronica Thor employed as Director of International Student Services, effective January 1.
  • Wanhoe Kim employed as Data and Information Specialist, effective January 1.
  • Job of Kirk Watson as Test Center Coordinator, effective January 1
  • Robert Crawley resigned as School Support Services Coordinator / Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504, effective November 26.
  • Kris Gray resigned as Dean of the Health Professions, effective December 31.
  • Emily Webel resigned as Executive Director of Advancement, effective December 3.
  • Extension of unpaid leave for Troy Chansler, from December 2 to January 11.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 27 at 7 p.m.
