DEATH – Former director ERIC GREIF dies

Former Death manager Eric Grief has passed away at the age of 59. Greif was also president of Perseverance Holdings Ltd., which manages the legacy of Chuck Schudliner. Greif had been looking for a kidney donor for the past few months, but couldn’t find one.

Relapse Records, which has managed Death’s reissue campaign for the past several years, posted the following about Grief’s death:

“Everyone at Relapse is saddened to learn of the passing of our friend, Eric Grief. We would like to send our condolences to Eric’s family and friends. It has been an honor to work with Eric and Death, and we hope that its impact on this area of music will last for years to come. “

Death’s official social media pages have been published:

The world has lost an absolute warrior and a supporter of metal and music in general. Eric was first introduced in my childhood life when he was a director and friend of Chucks, and then later in his late twenties when we met in Philadelphia to strike a deal with relapse records. in order to finally give Chuck’s legacy a decent home. You all enjoy Chuck’s music on all these wonderful platforms and releases now thanks to this man. Eric was of average height, but once he opened his mouth there was no doubt that he was a giant. He was a loving father and one of the most articulate and interesting men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Please keep his mother and children in your thoughts. The art of existence is indeed fragile … “
