Regan Baker Design is an interior design firm committed to inspiring joy and relationships through the art of engagement and design. We’re a mid-size, female-led design studio with a strong passion for creative collaboration, intentional, personalized interiors, and fun, friendly people.

RBD is looking for a Design Manager to work within our project design teams, directly supporting a Senior Designer. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, highly organized autodidact who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. Key attributes include: strong attention to detail, propensity for strategic planning and problem solving, ability to lead communication and coordination within a full project team, responsibility for revenue management and reporting internally and externally, as well as a strong understanding and love for interior design and the design process.


Project management and administration:

  • Establish and build trusting relationships with clients

  • Ownership and delegation of project task management and schedule planning across multiple active projects in partnership with lead designer

  • Manage the design team’s weekly meeting agenda in collaboration with the lead designer

  • Attend weekly project strategy meetings with Principal, Studio Director and Senior Design Lead

  • Guide articulate, organized and transparent communication throughout the life of the project

  • Oversee project quality control and enforce RBD standards

  • Contribute to the development of training materials and RBD standards

Revenue and budget management:

  • Oversee the management and monitoring of the project budget

  • Review financial aspects of active projects for internal and external reporting

  • Manage purchase budget estimates, analyzes and down payment requests

  • Review project timesheets and prepare monthly service invoices

  • Lead communication with clients regarding budget planning, expectations and regular reporting

Design & Execution:

  • Ensure that the team effectively meets tasks, schedule and budget

  • Coach and support the design team on construction documents, construction administration, specifications, purchasing, monitoring and installation preparation as needed

  • Participate in on-site meetings with owner, consultants and contractors, including installation as required


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in interior design, architecture or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in project management, customer service and/or construction administration

  • Collaborative attitude, analytical mindset, organized and articulate communication and strong attention to detail

  • Quick learner with the ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Mastery of Google Suite

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketchup or similar design software

  • Familiarity with Asana, Studio Designer and Quickbooks an asset

  • Minimum of 3 days in the San Francisco office per week

  • Complete COVID-19 vaccination

  • A love for interior design, the design process and customer services
