Founded in 1996 by brothers-in-law Adam Firestone and David Walker, Firestone Walker Brewing Company is a pioneering California brewery located on the California coast. Led by master brewer Matt Brynildson, our state-of-the-art breweries in Paso Robles, Buellton and Venice produce a diverse portfolio from iconic lagers to barrel-aged ales and wild ales, including 805 beer, Mind Haze, Hypnose, Union Jack , DBA and Cali-Squeeze.

The Brand Manager is responsible for managing, developing and directing brand strategies and the product development lifecycle for Cali-Squeeze, as well as marketing plans that drive volume growth and profitability. A master storyteller with a solid understanding of Californian culture, the Brand Manager is also a proven ability to bring products to market and drive consumer engagement and sales. Cali-Squeeze’s brand manager lives and breathes Californian culture and exemplifies the brand’s lifestyle by understanding how to connect with multiple consumers of diverse demographics, with a particular focus on the 21-35 year old consumer.

Specifically, job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

  • Serve as a brand champion by ensuring authentic brand positioning at all touchpoints
  • Manage product lifecycle plans based on industry trends, consumer behaviors and market white spaces to ensure long-term dynamic growth of Cali-Squeeze brands
  • Plan, implement and successfully execute consumer and commercial marketing programs, including strategic brand planning, market positioning, pricing, promotion and advertising
  • Establish brand planning schedule, coordinate cross-functional activities and planning processes, manage timelines and ensure timely completion of all deliverables
  • Establish and maintain brand and marketing budgets as well as support P&L management
  • Use consumer and industry insights, including Neilsen, IRI and others, to illuminate opportunities for product innovation and create marketing programs that drive growth
  • Collaborate with the sales team for specific strategies with key partners
  • Work with brewing teams to drive product innovation, testing and trials of Cali-Squeeze products
  • Work with FWBC creative groups to create world-class packaging and campaigns that authentically position the brand to target drinkers
  • Work with FWBC media agencies to develop and manage advertising campaigns and media plans to drive sales, consideration and awareness
  • Lead the monitoring and analysis of brand campaign performance, identify risks and opportunities, and report findings and company plans
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments of the marketing team across social, digital, merchandising, customer marketing and experiential marketing groups to drive portfolio priorities towards successful activation
  • Work with merchandising and creative teams to create successful point-of-sale marketing efforts for trade activation
  • Oversee strategic partnerships including merchandising, apparel and product placements
  • Managing acquired media strategies in conjunction with FWBC’s PR and influencer teams to drive awareness, third-party validation and brand awareness
  • Work with experiential marketing teams to develop local, regional and grassroots marketing strategies that promote sampling and cultural connectivity in priority markets
  • Represent the brand at major events, cultural moments, market visits, distributor and retailer meetings
  • Attend photo and video shoots for the advertising campaign
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Five years of experience in marketing, brand management or digital marketing for consumer products or beverage/alcohol brands
  • Exceptional communication, critical thinking, problem solving and project management skills – exceptional attention to detail
  • Leadership and participation of cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and keynote (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Regular trips for major market visits, photo shoots, advertising campaigns and events
  • Expertise in creating and managing culturally iconic brands
  • Intimate knowledge of consumer insights and turning it into action plans
  • Experience in product innovation and positioning brands that connect with consumer lifestyles
  • History of launching multi-channel brand campaigns
  • Analytical skills – ability to measure performance and effectiveness within brand platforms
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple projects
