Promethean AI is new technology developed by the former technical art director of Naughty Dog. It is the first artificial intelligence in the world which “works with artists, assists them in the process of building virtual worlds”.
Gamasutra be careful to a video keynote posted by the Promethean AI team a few weeks ago. In the 40-minute clip, they detail how this technology will make the world-building process easier.
Andrew Maximov, former technical artistic director of Naughty Dog, is behind the project. He introduced Promethean AI shortly after leaving the studio in 2018. He hopes this technology will bring the focus back to “creativity, variety and team empowerment.”
“Our new speech describes the future of the production of the game world with artificial intelligence, introduces an accessible concept of levels (as in self-driving cars) to describe the industry’s transition to the aided world building ‘IA, demonstrates a whole series of fine examples as well as cutting-edge content management and organizational tools, ”says Maximov.
Promethean’s AI can help create different environments, as artificial intelligence supports a lot of mundane and uncreative work. Artists can use contextual controls that suggest assets uniquely suited to a given timeline. There is now also a free public beta of technology.
