He decided to resign from the Shropshire auction house to move to Shrewsbury in the South West of England with his wife Jessica, who is a professor at the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol.
Lamond, 55, said: âIt was not an easy decision, but if I was to move, it had to be now. We will be sorely missed. Shropshire is a beautiful place to raise a family, but our kids have grown up and recently left home, so it’s time to change my wife’s route.
âIt’s an unusual gesture for someone, but it’s a carpe diem moment. I’ll be resurfacing in the New Year after a hiatus, but I’m definitely not leaving the world of fine art, antiques, or auctioning. I hope to stay on the SOFAA national committee.
Halls is currently recruiting an artistic director to replace Lamond who will be leaving the company at Christmas.
Halls Fine Arts Division has 16 employees and the company is looking for someone with 10 years of senior management experience, preferably RICS qualified.
Lamond added, âHalls is a great company to work for and I have made some lasting friendships. But I am planning a new and different life.
Lamond, previously with Phillips in Chester, joined Halls in 1996 and became head of its fine arts department in 2005.
