Kent Art Association awards students, plus

The following school, church and library events and opportunities are taking place in the greater New Milford area:

The Kent Art Association’s 29th annual student fair was a success with eight schools registered and prizes awarded to eight people, according to a statement.

The winners are: Callie McGuire from Millbrook High School, Sam Hoyt from Harlem Valley Regional High School, Anna Gleason from Fredrick Gunn School, Aurora Smedvig The Hotchkiss School, Wyatt Lee Marvelwood School, Winslow Rock Kent School, Jack Seeds Forman School and Bodhi. Walsh from the South Kent School.

Milford’s new boy awarded in car technician training competition


New Milford High School’s Dean Faulds took top honors in an automotive tech competition by demonstrating his technical savvy and winning a $7,000 grant to one of Universal Technical Institute-Exton’s 13 campuses Across the country. Additionally, Faulds also received a first-place trophy to commemorate his achievement, according to a statement.

Thirty students from the Philadelphia and area metro began the day with an individualized written exam before competing in a variety of hands-on automotive assessments.

Roxbury student honored by Florida Tech

Roxbury’s Jayden Cornwall has been named to the Fall 2021 Deans’ List at the Florida Institute of Technology.

Trinity Lutheran Church in New Milford Hosts Events

Ash Wednesday is March 2. The church will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for prayer and meditation.

Imposition of ashes
– from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Ash Wednesday Eucharist – 6 p.m.

Trinity will observe the “self-imposition of ashes” in which participants can put the mark of the cross on their foreheads. For Communion, the parishioners will take the individual cup and the Host placed on the small table. The pastor will bless people from the altar. There is no close contact.

Kent: United Nations Association of Connecticut awards scholarships

The United Nations Association of Connecticut has announced that at least three scholarships will be available this year for Connecticut high school graduates.

Connecticut Chapter President Joseph Baxer emphasized that the goals of the scholarship are to encourage and support students with a demonstrated interest in promoting peace through work in international relations and diplomatic service, and to cultivate understanding and support for the work of the United Nations in the United States, according to a statement.

Application information is available from the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation (northwestcf.org) and the Connecticut Community Foundation (concf.org).

Baxer said speakers are available for presentations on the UN and other topics of international interest to civic groups, libraries and secondary schools. For more information, email [email protected]

New Milford Library Tax Items Available for Pickup

The New Milford Public Library announces that the following tax items can be picked up during library hours: Federal Forms 1040 and 1040-SR, instruction booklets for Federal Forms 1040 and 1040-SR, and limited quantities of CT-1040 forms.
