KPRC 2 Managing Director Jerry Martin retires

HOUSTON – After more than 40 years of dedicated service in broadcasting and media, KPRC 2 Vice President and General Manager Jerry Martin has set his sights on a well-deserved retirement. Jerry has been at the helm of KPRC 2 for over 11 years, leading the station through an unprecedented period of triumph and tragedy.

“Timing is important in work and life, and it was time to retire with the station I love in mind,” said Jerry Martin, vice president and general manager of KPRC 2. “I am happy to be reunited with my family in Indianapolis and – at the same time – to end an 11-year marriage to my wife of 37 years.”

It is difficult to summarize the many contributions Jerry has made over the years to the broadcasting industry, the Houston community, KPRC 2 and Graham Media Group. Jerry led his team through some of KPRC 2’s toughest days, including Hurricane Harvey and the COVID-19 pandemic. He also wholeheartedly celebrated H-town, its first-class attractions, rapid growth and the incredible diversity of the community and its people.

“I am forever grateful to Jerry for his years of commitment to Graham Media and our industry,” said Catherine Badalamente, President and CEO of Graham Media Group. “I hope he continues to email, text and discuss the many articles, videos, podcasts and newsletters on everything from finance, digital and sales automation to the best Peloton rides .”

Jerry has always understood the importance of his position and of giving back. He devoted much of his time, energy, and passion to countless Houston organizations, including the Houston Area Urban League, Houston Ballet, and Holocaust Museum Houston.

A voracious consumer of news and media, Jerry has always been inspired by changing trends in the media industry. He helped design and navigate the transition to a state-of-the-art station and broadcast studio, pioneered innovative programming, integrated digital operations into the day-to-day, and achieved #1 status across all platforms. .
