Lyme Art Association presents an exhibition in four acts

OLD LYME — It’s like four galleries under one roof at the Lyme Art Association when it presents its spring exhibition in “four acts.”

Four new exhibitions, each with a different theme, will be presented in the historic galleries from March 4 to April 7. Poetry of Motion, Black and White, Wanderlust, and Renewal: Visions of Spring unfold simultaneously, each in a separate room.

“A visit to the Lyme Art Association to see the four-act exhibition is like visiting four different galleries. There is a variety and a change of mood as you move from gallery to gallery,” gallery director Jocelyn Zallinger said in a press release. “This exhibition also allows the visitor to focus on each genre in a way that is not possible in other exhibitions.”

Titled “The Exhibition in Four Acts,” the exhibition is “one of our most dynamic and exciting exhibitions, bringing together four distinct types of figurative art,” the statement said.

Poetry of Motion features the work of member artists “who have set out to capture the fleeting gestures of action and movement in their artwork,” the statement said, while Black and White “features work on all themes. in black and white and all grays in between,” the statement read.

While “Wanderlust will take visitors on vacation with the artists” and Renewal: Visions of Spring focus on uplifting images of spring and rebirth, according to the release.

Four Acts is sponsored by Guilford Savings Bank in partnership with the Community Foundation of Middlesex County.

The Lyme Art Association is located at 90 Lyme St., Old Lyme. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by appointment. For more information on exhibits, buying art, art classes, or to become a member, call 860-434-7802 or visit
