Ashley Wright will be the featured artist at the Redlands Art Association Gallery from September 18 to October 18. 9, exhibiting paintings.
An open house is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on September 18 at the gallery, 215 E. State St., Redlands.
Wright was born and raised in Redlands. She plays the viola and attended the University of Redlands, where she obtained a Bachelor of Music degree.
She started drawing as a child and over the years her artistic pursuits have expanded to include orchestra, marching band, theater, photography and painting. Around the time she started painting, she discovered she had mental health issues, according to a press release.
Inspirations for his art come from his mental health experiences and his love for nostalgia and science fiction. She advocates for mental health and hopes to raise awareness of complex post-traumatic stress disorder through her paintings, according to the press release.
His paintings include inspiration from local mountain ranges and vibrant colors. Over the past three years, she has worked to develop her style using thick gel to create texture and depth.
After developing her style, she embarked on entrepreneurship and set up a store with products of her art, such as stickers, journals, pins and prints.
