MEREDITH – The New Hampshire Art Association is once again partnering with Church Landing in Mill Falls to display and sell members’ artwork in the main lobby on the third floor.
This new exhibition, titled “Views from Home and Abroad”, opens Tuesday March 17 and features works by Claudia Michael and Frederick Dobrowolski. The paintings in the exhibition are impressions of local landscapes as well as scenes from Italy. The exhibition will be on view until July 12.
The two artists started working together when Michael was a student in Dobrowolski’s class. They later taught together, studied together, and continued to paint “in the open” whenever possible. This group of works is a representation of their history as painting companions.
“Through my humble visual description, I want the viewer to see the beauty of the world the way I do,” Dobrowolski said.
Dobrowolski has worked as an artist educator for over 35 years. He was the art chairman at Manchester High School West. He headed the artistic department and acted as artistic advisor for the yearbook and literary magazine. He has also guided students in painting murals and through competitive art exhibitions, scholarships and university portfolios. Dobrowolski was also an assistant instructor at Southern New Hampshire University. His painting “Cemetery Road, Mt. Vernon, NH” received the Omer T. Lassonde First Prize with the New Hampshire Artist Association.
Michael is a landscape painter living in southern New Hampshire. His work is influenced by the contrast of color, light and shape found in nature. Painting “in the open air” maintains his work in communion with his inspiration. She is a signature member of the New England Watercolor Society
Michael is the recipient of three Fulbright scholarships and has painted in Canada, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, China, Morocco and the United States. She exhibits her work statewide and her paintings have won numerous awards. She is a lecturer at Granite State College and an assistant instructor at the Institute of Art and Design at New England College.
Church Landing in Mill Falls is located at 281 Daniel Webster Highway. All works in the exhibition will be on sale by contacting 603-431-4230 or [email protected].
