A leading pharmaceutical company has a vacancy for a senior social media manager

The Social Media Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, managing and monitoring the company’s social media strategy to increase brand awareness, improve marketing efforts and increase sales.

Key performance areas

    • Develop, implement and manage our social media strategy

    • Define key social media KPIs

    • Manage and oversee social media content in conjunction with content managers and marketing team – to ensure content is aligned with strategy and content drives engagement and increased sales through our audience on social media.

    • Measure the success of each social media campaign

    • Stay up to date with the latest social media best practices and technologies

    • Collaborate with marketing, sales and product development teams

    • Monitor SEO and user engagement and suggest content optimization

    • Develop a network of influencers and brand promotion

    • Provide constructive feedback to align and pivot content/strategies with changing market forces

    • Align and rotate social media campaigns based on social media algorithm changes

    • Analysis of competitors on social networks: activity, expenses, return on investment

    • Analysis of social media trends and recommendations

    • Development of social media case studies for internal skills development

    • Kaizen reports based on campaign analysis

Minimum requirements


    • Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent

    • A qualification in social media marketing would be advantageous

    • SEO and/or SEM qualifications would be advantageous


    • 5 years of experience as a Social Media Manager or similar role

Physical skills/competences

    • Social media strategist using social media to build brand awareness and drive sales

    • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social media best practices

    • Comprehensive overview of social media monitoring resources and measures

    • Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics

    • Experience researching audience and buyer persona

    • Good understanding of social media KPIs

    • Familiarity with website design and publishing

    • Excellent multitasking skills
    • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Good time management skills

    • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
