Zack Snyder’s Kindness Leads to Negative Reviews of His Movies, Says Former WB Executive

Zack Snyder’s films always face a clash between criticism and audience response. While the critical reception of his films remains mixed to negative, audiences are most grateful and optimistic after watching his films. Therefore, since #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign and the subsequent publication of Zack Snyder’s Justice Leaguepeople have consistently supported Snyder’s previous films, especially his introduction to the DC Extended Universe through movies like Steel man and Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. In response to a tweet from a fan with a similar opinion of Zack Snyder’s directorial work, Greg Silverman, former President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, Warner Bros., wrote an encouraging response.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve always suspected that Zack’s kindness, openness, and enthusiasm created an environment for critics to undervalue his work. Because he’s a humble, approachable human, he didn’t fit the mold of an author. Crappy. It should be the opposite. https://t.co/3OU3NC5CzL

A fan took to Twitter to address the negative reception of Snyder’s DCEU movies, Steel man and batman versus superman, saying how these films would not have met with such a reception. The tweet said,

If anyone other than Zack Snyder had directed Man of Steel and Batman V Superman (the movies being identical), those movies would have been critically acclaimed.

In response to the tweet, Greg Silverman lent his support to Snyder, saying his openness to critical remarks often goes against his ways and films. Silverman wrote,

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve always suspected that Zack’s kindness, openness, and enthusiasm created an environment for critics to undervalue his work. Because he’s a humble, approachable human, he didn’t fit the mold of an author. Crappy. It should be the opposite.

The acclaimed director made his debut with the 2004 zombie film, Dawn of the Dead. Zack Snyder then rose to prominence with his second film 300, an adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel of the same name. He then joined the DC project from Warner Bros. watchmen, which is often considered one of the best movies adapted from the DC Comics script. In 2012, Snyder was enlisted with the backing of Christopher Nolan to direct David S. Goyer’s Superman movie which turned into Steel man. Snyder then shot Steel man in the first installment of the proposed DC Extended Universe, followed by batman versus superman. He had planned a full lineup for the franchise, with films helmed by different directors; however, poor reception at batman versus superman and his ultimate departure from Justice League (2017) reoriented the entire franchise.

Since then, Snyder has become a fan-favorite figure among pop culture enthusiasts and considers him an author, earning him accolades and a massive fanbase across the globe. Snyder is staying with DC Films as an executive producer on many post-DCEU projects.Justice League and even helped HBO Max with a massively positive response to Zack Snyder’s Justice League. But, stepping away from directing duties on DCEU, he moved to Netflix on a multi-picture deal, which started with the army of the dead franchise, as well as his science fiction project, rebel moon.
